2008-09 OCAA FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE YEAR - ASHLEY DOCKING

Ashley Docking, a fourth-year Scarborough Ont., native and three-sport athlete, had a season paralleled by no one. During Docking's fall season she was named the OCAA women's soccer player of the year after leading her team to a provincial bronze medal. She finished her soccer season sitting second in OCAA scoring with 18 goals in 11 matches, averaging 1.64 goals per game. The Seneca captain was also named an OCAA league and tournament all-star, and a CCAA all-Canadian.

Moving from the pitch to the hard-court, Docking's season continued to flourish as she led the Seneca women's basketball team to an OCAA provincial silver medal and a CCAA national championship wild card berth. The 5-foot-6 point guard was named an OCAA all-star, the OCAA East Region defensive player of the year and was also named an OCAA tournament all-star.

On the national scene, Ashley led her team to the national semi-final after upsetting the nation's top-ranked team in the opening round. She was twice named player of the game for her efforts and was named a CCAA second-team tournament all-star after her team finished fifth.

Docking was also a member of the Seneca women's indoor soccer team. Described as an aggressive but fair player, Docking is known for her ability to exude sportsmanship on and off of the field of play especially among her teammates. She has assisted her peers in achieving not only their personal bests but by helping her teammates also meet the team goals they established at the start of the season.
