2007-08 OCAA FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE YEAR - KATIE SZEGHALMI

Katie Szeghalmi of Oshawa, Ont., is in her second year of play for the powerful Durham College women's soccer program and led her team to their fourth OCAA provincial championship title in five seasons. The OCAA's top scorer also helped boost Ontario's presence in women's soccer on the national scene leading her Lords squad to a CCAA bronze medal.

With outstanding skills and abilities, Szeghalmi has earned numerous athletic awards and accolades this season, including being named the CCAA national women's soccer player of the year, OCAA women's soccer player of the year and was voted a CCAA all-Canadian. Szeghalmi was also named a CCAA tournament all-star, OCAA championship MVP, OCAA all-star as well as the women's soccer MVP at Durham College.

Named Durham College's 2007-08 female athlete of the year, Katie was also the recipient of the Bert Dejeet Memorial Scholastic Award for earning the top grade point average of all Durham College student athletes. She was also named a CCAA academic all-Canadian as well as being a member of the OCAA all-academic team.
