Lyons had himself quite a provincial championship, and did so as both a pitcher and position player. In two games as a position player, he batted .750, with seven RBI and two walks. As a pitcher, he threw a three-hit complete game shutout of five-time defending gold medalist St. Clair, striking out nine and earning Humber a direct trip to the championship final where the Hawks won their first-ever crown. Lyons was selected as Player of the Game in the game he pitched, and then was selected as both a Championship All-Star and MVP.
