Palmer-McCarthy was named the Most Valuable Player at the OCAA Women's Rugby Sevens Championship in Oshawa, Ont., on Oct. 30. She scored a try in a 20-12 semi-final victory over St. Lawrence. Then, less than two minutes into the gold medal match against undefeated Durham, Palmer-McCarthy was sprung along the left side and beat four defenders to score. Near the end of the first half, the third-year inside centre then sprinted the distance of the field to record her second try of the match, giving Humber a 10-point lead at the break and ultimately a 36-14 victory.
