HUMBER BEATS FANSHAWE IN GAME ONE

ETOBICOKE, ON: With a day delay due to poor weather conditions, the Humber Hawks (2nd OCAA) and the Fanshawe Falcons (3rd OCAA) Falcons opened up the 2016 Ontario College Athletic Association Men’s Baseball Championship tournament October 22 at Connorvale Park in Etobicoke, Ontario.

It was a scoreless game until the third inning where Fanshawe scored four runs putting the Falcons up 4-0. Zev Weisdorf opened up the scoring for the men in red.

The Hawks retaliated with a few hits and some outstanding pitching from Steven Hough but were unable to catch up until the bottom of the fifth inning when Keegan Murphy managed to cross the plate for Humber's first run. Next up, Stephen Andreopolous hit a triple that scored two more runs, cutting Fanshawe's lead to 4-3. The Hawks managed to tie the game at 4-4 with fans sitting on the edge of their seats.

With Kyle Zimmer of Fanshawe still pitching, the Hawks took the lead in the bottom of the sixth with two out.
The game ended as 5-4 with the Hawks advancing on in the double-knockout style tournament.

Player of the game for the Fanshawe Falcons was Travis Helps and Steven Hough took it for the Humber Hawks.

Game two starts at 1:30 p.m. at Connorvale Park where the reining champions, St. Clair Saints, take on the Durham Lords.
