TRICHILO NAMED 2017 OCAA COACH OF THE YEAR

TRICHILO NAMED 2017 OCAA COACH OF THE YEAR

SAULT STE. MARIE, Ont. - Nick Trichilo of the Humber Hawks is the 2017 Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Golf Coach of the Year as selected by his peers at the recently concluded OCAA Golf Championships, presented by belairdirect.

Trichilo helped guided his Humber men to a 2017 OCAA gold medal as well as two individual medals. Conner Watt (Mississauga) won individual gold, shooting six-over for the tournament, while teammate Cameron Brennan (Erin) was runner up, taking the silver medal. It is the first time since 2013 that the top two men's golfers have come from the same program.

Three of Trichilo's were named to the OCAA All-Ontario team for their top five finishes. Luke McLean (King City) finished in a three-way tie for fifth place to earn the award. Sean O'Hara (Mississauga) finished in a tie for 13th, while Michael Vance (Aurora) was 17th.

Although Humber has medaled as a team the past 22 OCAA championships, the Hawks had not been at the top of the podium since 2014. Trichilo has been head coach at Humber since 2011, and a swing lab technical coach with the program since 2004.

Trichilo is recognized as one of the top instructors in Canada and his passion for golf has afforded him the opportunity to develop coaching relationships with some of the best athletes in the country. He has coached athletes on PGA Tour, Web.com Tour, Mackenzie Tour, and many different mini tours. He currently coaches over 40 (male and female) NCAA and CCAA athletes, including eight that have represented Canada in the World University Games.

In a 12-month span, Trichilo has coached an Ontario and Quebec amateur champion, a Division I NCAA champion, two CCAA champions, two OCAA champions, a Toronto Star champion, plus numerous other professional and high level amateur champions.

Trichilo moves forward as the OCAA Nominee for Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association coach of the year.
