HAMILTON, Ont. - Mohawk College's Trevor McLaughlin (Kitchener) was named the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Men's Volleyball Player of the Year in a ceremony held in Hamilton, Ont., on Thursday morning as part of the 2017 OCAA Men's Volleyball Championship presented by belairdirect.

McLaughlin, Mohawk's all-time leader in kills, averaged a team best 4.1 points per set in 16 matches, helping lead the Mountaineers to a 16-2 record in the OCAA West Division. The fifth-year left side totaled 164 kills, 26 service aces and 16 stuff blocks for a team-high 206 points. McLaughlin is also a Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) All-Canadian, as well as an OCAA West Division First-Team All-Star.

Algonquin's Jarrod McNaughton (Ottawa) is the OCAA Rookie of the Year. The middle averaged 3.2 points per set, contributing 170 kills, 40 stuff blocks and eight service aces, playing in all 18 matches for Algonquin.
