SAINTS TAKE DOWN MOUNTAINEERS AT OCAA CHAMPIONSHIP

BRAMPTON, Ont -- The St. Clair Saints faced off against the Mohawk Mountaineers at the 2017 OCAA Softball Championship, with St. Clair claiming the victory by a score of 10-0.

The Saints led the OCAA in runs scored this season with 203, and it was much the same in this one, as St. Clair would tally 12 hits, five for extra bases, to score in every inning to take the game in five.

Sara Stiller claimed the victory for the St. Clair, pitching a five-inning shutout giving up just four hits.

Aimee Leduc would take the loss for the Mountaineers as she surrendered all ten runs in the game over her five innings.

St. Clair opened the scoring with three runs on four hits in the first inning with RBI’s from Michaela Rilft and Jordan Taylor.  Megan Lumley would add two more runs in the second with a double to put her team up by five.

The Saints would put up three more runs over the next two innings before ending the game in the seventh scoring two runs on RBI’s from Madisyn Clark and Ally Senft.

The Saints will now take on the Durham Lords in the fourth game of the tournament to determine who will claim the first spot in the gold medal game while the Mountaineers will take on Humber in Game three for a spot in the bronze medal game.
