THE FANSHAWE FALCONS WIN THE OCAA BRONZE MEDAL OVER THE SENECA STING, 72-56

The Fanshawe Falcons are flying home with the hardware as they take out the Seneca Sting 72-56 in the Bronze Medal match-up. 

The Falcons came out soaring in the first quarter taking a 7 point lead before the Sting could get on the board.  Falcons Player of the Game, Mikhaila Wright and 4th year Ali Vlasman scored 6 points each for the Falcons.  While 1st Team All-Star for the Sting, Alcian Satchel hit two three-pointers and Erin Simpson had an outstanding performance off the bench scoring 5 points of her own to spark some life into the Sting offense.  The Falcons led after the first quarter 17-15.

The Falcons spread out their offense in the second quarter with 9 different players contributing points.  Wright and Vlasman continued their dominance scoring 4 points each.  Sting Player of the Game Sharifa Clarke of the Sting dug deep to play some tough defense while leading her team with 6 points.  Out scored by the Falcons 21-12 in the second quarter the Sting found them selves down 38-27 going into half time.

Wright shone in the 3rd quarter for the Falcons scoring 9 of their 20 points on her own.  Vere also contributed 5 points to the Falcons dominant quarter.  Nicolette Elliot-Gill led the Sting with 4 points.  The Falcons out scored the Sting 20-13 in the third quarter going into the fourth quarter with a 58-40 lead.  

Satchel led the Sting offense as they tried to climb out from under the Flacons, scoring 10 points including two late quarter 3s that gave the Sting a little bit of spark.  Wright insured the Falcon victory with 5 more points and Maggie Jarvis had 3 of her own.  The Falcons won a decisive bronze medal matchup 72-56 over the hometown Sting.

In her last game as a Sting, Sharifa Clarke put everything on the line and played for her team.  She recorded 8 points, 8 rebounds and a steal to end her career on a high.  Satchel put in 18 points and 7 steals, while Elliot-Gill helped Clarke dominate the boards with 5 rebounds and 8 points of her own.

The Falcons were led by Wright as she had a game high 24 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists.  Ali Vlasman continued her strong play through out the tournament adding 10 more points and 7 rebounds to her total.  2nd Year Anna Ryan came off the bench to contribute 7 rebounds and a basket for her team.
