Mario Bruno was one of the most dominating players to ever compete for the Durham Lords on the soccer pitch throughout his time as a student-athlete from 1984-1987.

He led the team in scoring all three years he played, finishing with a Durham record of 32 goals, seventh all-time in OCAA men's soccer history. His best season with Durham came in the 1986-1987 season when he scored 17 goals to lead all of the OCAA.

During that season he was named an OCAA All-Star. His strong play led the Lords to three consecutive OCAA East Division championship titles from 1984 to 1987, and three consecutive OCAA provincial championship medals (silver medal in 1984-85, and bronze medal in both 1985-86 and 1986-87). Bruno was inducted into the Durham College Sports Hall of Fame in 2008.
