Vern Dow was the first-ever coach of the Cambrian College curling program starting in 1970 and held the post for an impressive span of 18 years.

Dow coached his many teams to victories over the years, winning a variety of OCAA regional and provincial titles.

His greatest honour was coaching his 1985-86 women's team consisting of Sandra Wickham, Tracey Cleaver, Leigh Anne Booth and Heather Pearon to a CCAA national gold medal.

Vern was truly a curling enthusiast who participated in all aspects of the game. A competitive curler himself, he coached both Cambrian's team and his local junior program.
