Augusto Duquesne was born in Havana, Cuba in 1969 and began his storied involvement at Durham College in 1994 following the World Basketball Championships in Toronto.

After making the difficult decision to leave his family and friends behind in his homeland, Duquesne enrolled at Durham and quickly established himself as a force OCAA men's basketball.

During his three-year collegiate career, he twice led the OCAA in scoring (1994-95 and 1995-96); he was named an OCAA league all-star twice; OCAA championship all-star twice; plus was twice named a CCAA All-Canadian, (1994-95 and 1995-96).

During the 1995-96 season he set the Durham College single game scoring record of 40 points. He also set the OCAA all-star game record for most points in a game with 42 that same year on his home court.

In his final year (1996-97) he helped lead the Lords to the school's first national championship title in men's basketball. In 2000, Duquesne was named to the OCAA Men's Basketball All-Millennium Team.
