From 1983 to 1986, Algonquin men's basketball player Gary Gallagher was one of the OCAA's most accurate shooters, as well as an exceptional ball handler. Gallagher instantly made an impact on the hardcourt as he was second in league scoring as a freshman for the Caats.

To follow up his impressive rookie campaign, Gallagher led all scorers in the league averaging an impressive 21.1 PPG, catapulting him into the OCAA record book. Gallagher finished his three-year collegiate career with 1,149 career points and an 80 percent free throw average. At the time of his induction Gallagher was ranked eighth in all-time OCAA scoring with the highest point total of any player to only play three seasons.

A fast, smooth and durable player, Gallagher possessed an accurate shot from anywhere on the court. Gary has been described as a fierce competitor who led by example, often leading the team not only in scoring, but also in rebounds. His outstanding play and competitive nature made him one of, if not the best basketball player to ever hit the floor at Algonquin College.
