CINDY HORTON

Category: Athlete
Sport: Women's Hockey and Fastball
Institution: Centennial College
Inducted: 2007

In three seasons with the Centennial Colts, Cindy Horton posted numbers few have. Enrolling in 1981, Cindy wasted little time making her mark, leading the OCAA women's hockey league in points and assists in her first two seasons and finished second in both categories in her final year behind fellow OCAA Hall of Famer Angela James.

In her three years of hockey, Horton collected all three colours of medals earning an OCAA bronze medal in 1981-82, gold in 1982-83 and silver in 1983-84. Cindy also played fastball for the Colts where her team captured OCAA silver in the 1983-84 season. Horton was also named Centennial College's Athlete of the Year in 1982.

Cindy still remains active in the community and in June 2007, she was an assistant coach with Team Canada's women's ball hockey team at the first-ever World Ball Hockey Championship in Ratingen, Germany. She also dedicates her time as co-chair of the Toronto Street Buds Committee, a position she has held for 11 years, coordinating youth ball hockey programs run in conjunction with the Toronto Maple Leafs, ESSO and the Ontario Ball Hockey Association.

Horton is a member of the OCAA Women's Hockey All-Millennium team.
