Mike Katz was the head coach of the Humber College men's basketball program from 1984 to 2003. During his tenure, he has an OCAA conference record of 327-74 and posted more than 500 wins with the Humber program throughout his career.

Katz demonstrated his ability to continually manage athletes, winning five CCAA national championships and eight OCAA championships in his 18 years at the helm. He has been honoured on three occasions as the OCAA Coach of the Year and has also been named the CCAA Outstanding Coach of the Year.

Outside of the Humber community, Katz also shared his expertise as an assistant coach with Team Canada's men's basketball program from 1994-2003 and he was recognized for all of his coaching contributions and was inducted into Humber College's Hall of Fame in 2004.
