In Denise Morey's first season of OCAA competition, she played in three sports: soccer, volleyball, and basketball. She enjoyed the most success over her career in soccer and basketball, beginning with a gold medal in Division II basketball her first season. She was also named Championship MVP and was the league's Rookie of the Year.

The next season (1987-88) Morey was a member of the St. Lawrence women's soccer team that won the OCAA title and she was named the school's Female Athlete of the Year, an honour she would receive again in 1988-89 and 1992-93. In 1991-92, Morey decided to play on more season of soccer, and was selected to the CCAA All-Canadian team.

A testamant to Morey's athletic ability lies in some of her individual accomplishments. At her induction she was fourth on the OCAA's all-time soccer scoring list with 31 goals, and held the previous record for most goals in a season with 18. In basketball, she led the league in scoring in 1988-89 with 23.8 points per game (286 points in 12 games).
