Mark Nelson, a native of Niagara Falls, Ont., is one of Niagara College's highest athletic achievers.
He began his exceptional four-year collegiate career in 1983. He and teammate Tom Peat were the first Niagara athletes to win three consecutive national badminton titles from 1984-87.
Among Mark's other accomplishments were four OCAA and West regional titles from 1983-87, three Niagara co-athlete of the year awards from 1984-86, three all-Canadian awards from 1985-87, an Niagara College Award of Excellence, a western Ontario men's doubles championship, an eastern U.S.A. singles and men's doubles championship, an OFSSA men's doubles championship, two OCAA West regional tennis titles and induction into the Niagara Falls Sports Wall of Fame in 1990.
Mark was one of the first athletes to be inducted into the Niagara Knights Hall of Fame when it was established in 1998.
