Tom Peat was born in St. Catharines, Ont., and was one of Niagara's most accomplished athletes.

He began his exceptional four-year collegiate career in 1983. He and teammate Mark Nelson were the first ever to win not only one but three consecutive CCAA national badminton titles from 1983-87.

Other accomplishments include one western Ontario junior championship, three eastern U.S.A. junior doubles titles and one OFSSA doubles championship. He was also a three-time Niagara co-athlete of the year from 1984-86, three-time all-Canadian from 1985-87, and received the Niagara College Award of Excellence.

Tom was a member of the first group of athletes to be inducted into the Niagara Knights Hall of Fame when it was established in 1998.
