Justin Ross began his collegiate career at Niagara College in 2000 competing for the men's volleyball team. Ross was one of the most outstanding middle players to ever play in the OCAA and the first Knight to ever win a scoring title. His resume includes being a three-time OCAA Championship All-Star from 2001 to 2004 and a two-time OCAA West All-Star from 2002 to 2004.

Other awards include MVP for the Knights in the 2002-03 season and the Award of Excellence for four years of dedication in intercollegiate sports in 2003-04.

Ross helped Niagara to two OCAA championship gold medals, two silver medals, four consecutive OCAA West titles and three trips to the CCAA national championship. In 2003-04, Ross won the CCAA All-Canadian Award (only the fourth athlete in the history of the Niagara College intercollegiate program to receive this award) as well as capturing the OCAA West scoring title with 197 points, a first in team history.

The same year he also won the OCAA Men's Volleyball Player of the Year, Ontario's nomination for CCAA Player of the Year honours and Niagara's Male Athlete of the Year award.

With Ross on the court, the Knights were ranked No. 4 in the CCAA and No. 1 in the OCAA. In his four years in the OCAA, he had a total of 529 points of which 387 were kills, 111 blocks and 31 service aces.
