Peter Rylander began his long and successful career at Niagara College in 1969 and remained an active part of the OCAA and CCAA until his retirement in 1996.

Rylander's service to the OCAA and CCAA spanned 13 years in a variety of roles. He served three terms on the OCAA Executive Committee as Treasurer in 1973-74 and 1974-75, as President in 1983-84 and 1984-85, and as Past President and Chair of the Constitution Committee in 1985-86 and 1986-87.

At the national level, Rylander served as Secretary for the CCAA Executive Committee for three years (1981-82, 1982-83 and 1983-84). Rylander involvement wasn't limited to the Executive Committee as he was was the OCAA Senior Convenor for golf in 1975-76, 1994-95 and 1995-96, and was the Senior Convenor for men's basketball in 1978-79 and 1979-80.

In 1997, Rylander was honoured by the OCAA with the presentation of a Shield Award.
