Paul Stratford was the head coach of the Mohawk Mountaineers cross country program from 1981 to 1989. During his tenure, he coached the Mountaineers to four OCAA men's team championships, eight OCAA women's team championships, and 10 individual OCAA gold medals.

Stratford was not only a coach as he was a varsity athlete for Mohawk where he was a member of the 1971 and 1972 OCAA men's team championship.

He was previously a physiotherapy professor at Mohawk College from 1980-1991 and is currently an associate professor at McMaster University in Hamilton in the School of Rehabilitation Science.
