Vaso Vujanovic was born in Yugoslavia and began his career at Durham College in 1973 when he was named head coach of the Durham Lords men's soccer team.

From 1973 to 1989 he had a record of 128-35-7 with a winning percentage of .774. During that time he won two OCAA championships in 1980 and 1988, five silver medals, five bronze medals and two appearances in the CCAA national championship.

In those 17 years the Lords only failed to qualify to the provincial championship once. Vujanovic was named national Coach of the Year in 1988.

As well as coaching the men's team, Vujanovic also coached the women's team from 1998 to 2008 comprising a record of 119-37-11 while winning five OCAA championships in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2006 and 2007.

Vujanovic was inducted to the Durham College Sports Hall of Fame in 1997.
