TOM WHITE

Category: Coach
Sport: Men's Basketball
Institution: Sault College
Inducted: 2005

Tom White began to work at the Ontario Vocational Centre (Sault College) in 1967. During his career with the College, White devoted many hours to coaching the men's basketball team. At the time, this was a volunteer position and Tom gave his entire heart to the program.

In 1990-91, Sault won a silver medal at the OCAA Division II championship. White also helped out with the varsity hockey program, where with colleague Doug Heggart, they introduced the name "Cougars" for Sault College athletic teams. His peers also awarded him with the Employee Recognition Award for his contributions to college life.

After his retirement in 1993, the Athletic Department established an award in his honour to recognize a member of the men's basketball team, who in the same way Tom did, gives tireless effort and puts the team first and foremost.
