Gord Williamson coached for 11 seasons with Seneca College. In that time, he led the women's volleyball program to five OCAA championships, one silver and two bronze medals.

He also had success on the national stage as his team captured a CCAA bronze medal in 1980-81, the OCAA's first medal at the national championship. In 1986-87, Gord was named the OCAA women's volleyball coach of the year.

After joining Durham College in 1997, Williamson turned the men's volleyball team into the pinnacle program in collegiate volleyball. In 13 seasons, he led Durham to eight OCAA championship appearances, six OCAA final four appearances, five OCAA medals, and one CCAA national championship appearance.

With an overall record of 223-102 and a conference record of 128-52, Williamson left Durham as the winningest coach in program history. In 1999-2000, Gord became only the third Ontario coach to receive the CCAA coaching excellence award.
