Jovain Wilson-Cutting had an immediate impact when he joined the Fleming Knights in his 2007-08 freshman men's basketball season. The Knights had a 15-5 regular season record, a 10-win turnaround from the previous season. Jovain averaged 18.3 points per game, contributed 124 rebounds and added 58 assists, being named OCAA Rookie of the Year and an East Division Second-Team All-Star.

The following season, Jovain led Fleming in scoring, rebounds, steals and assists. He was named an East Division First-Team All-Star for his efforts. Jovain was recognized in 2009-10 as the OCAA Player of the Year and CCAA All-Canadian as he led the East Division in scoring averaging 22.9 points per game. He was also honoured as Fleming's Athlete of the Year in his final two seasons with the program.

Jovain joined the Algoma Thunderbirds for the 2011-12 season where he was once again named the OCAA Player of the Year and CCAA All-Canadian. The West Division First-Team All-Star was third in OCAA scoring averaging 22.4 points per game. He was also honoured as Algoma's Athlete of the Year. Jovain was limited to just 11 games in 2012-13, his final OCAA campaign, but his 1,702 career points placed him second all-time among OCAA players.
