Sting Swarm Panthers Early

The Seneca Sting (17-1) showed why they are the number one ranked team in the CCAA, defeating the Canadore Panthers (6-13) 113-55.

A fast start was key to the Sting's victory. The hot-shooting Sting opened a 23-2 lead in the game's first five minutes. The scoring slowed for the Sting, but the home team still led 32-9 thanks to 13 points by Nabil Ibrahim following the opening quarter.

The Sting extended their lead to twenty-six at halftime, leading 56-30 and then to fourty-one following a 25-10 third quarter advantage.

After a quiet third quarter, the hot shooting returned for the Sting in the fourth quarter. Leading the way was Eric Landry who made five shots from beyond the three point line for his best performance as a Sting.

Landry topped the Sting with 21 points while Ibrahim finished with 20 points and 5 steals. Yusuf Ali continued his strong second semester play with 17 points, 4 assists and 4 steals. Haany Ahmed also reach double figures with 11 points. Isse Ibrahim narrowly missed out on a double-double, finishing with 9 points and 11 rebounds.

Daniel Smalling paced the Panthers with 17 points to go along with 8 rebounds. Cadeem Campbell finished with 12 points and David Okoroafor added 8 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists.

The Sting shot 51% as a team comparied to 29% for the Panthers. The Panthers committed 23 turnovers to just 8 for the Sting. Points off the bench were key for the Sting where they held a 62-14 edge.
