MEN'S VOLLEYBALL GO UNDEFEATED AT MIDWAY POINT OF SEASON
Darien Haynes led the Grizzlies with 12 points as the team moved to a perfect 9-0 on the season after defeating the Sting.
The Georgian Grizzlies men's volleyball team travelled to face the Seneca Sting in their final game of the first half of the season on Wednesday night in Toronto, ON.
Georgian continued their incredible start to the season.
After a tight first set that the Grizzlies were able to win 26-24, Georgian kept the momentum rolling taking the final two sets in convincing fashion 25-14 and 25-18 to win the match in straight sets 3-0.
Darien Haynes (Barrie) had a big game scoring eight kills, three blocks and an ace to lead the team with 12 points. Teammate Ryan DeBruyn (Ottawa) had a team high 10 kills while adding an ace in an 11 point effort. Liam Gray was also solid with 31 assists, two kills and two blocks.
The Grizzlies are now 9-0 at the midway point of the season and sit atop the OCAA east division standings as the only undefeated team in their division.
It's been an incredible run for Georgian as after going undefeated in the regular season last year the team have now won 27 consecutive regular season contests and have not lost a game since Feb. 17, 2016.
The team continues to be the number one ranked team in the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) provincial rankings and the number two ranked team in latest Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) national rankings.
Georgian will now get a break before starting the second half of the season in January. The Grizzlies will play their next regular season home game on Thursday, Jan. 11 when they host the Centennial Colts at the Georgian Athletic Centre at 8 p.m.
