Tough night for Durham in Toronto

Box Score TORONTO – The Durham College men's basketball team struggled on Friday night as they fell 92-76 to the George Brown Huskies in Toronto.
 
The Lords were fouled 33 times that resulted in 42 free throws, but they struggled from the line only shooting 66 per cent. They also struggled from the floor, hitting just 28 per cent of their shots and 17 per cent from beyond the arc.
 
George Brown on the other hand were 50 per cent from the floor that included going 11-for-17 in the fourth quarter.
 
When looking for positives from Friday, the Lords did outscore George Brown in two quarters, but it was by one point both times. Meanwhile, George Brown outscored Durham 26-16 in the first quarter and 24-16 in the third quarter.
 
Teshayn Gayle of George Brown was 9-for-15 for a team high 21 points in 24 minutes of court time.
 
Brandon Halliburton (Brampton, Ont.) was the top scorer for Durham with 24 points. Seeing his first action of 2018, Romain McCala (Ajax, Ont.) had 15 points.
 
Durham drops to 7-5 but remains in fourth place in the OCAA east region, a half-game ahead of the Georgian Grizzlies.
 
George Brown (10-1) moves into a tie for first place with the Seneca Sting (10-1), who suffered their first loss due to a forfeit after an administration error.
 
As part of the Bell Let's Talk campaign, the Durham Lords are hosting Make Some Noise for Mental Health night on Wednesday, Jan. 24 during their basketball doubleheader. Fans are encouraged to bring pots and pans to "make some noise for mental health" and support the Bell Let's Talk movement in raising awareness about mental health. Tip off is scheduled for 6/8 p.m. at the CRWC against the Loyalist Lancers.
