Game Recap: Men's Volleyball | | Durham College Sports Information

Durham falls in hard fought four set match versus Fleming

OSHAWA, Ont. – While the result was not in their favour, the Durham Lords men's volleyball team can certainly hold their heads up high after their Thursday evening performance.

In a match that was much closer than the three sets to one score suggested, the Lords fell valiantly to the visiting Fleming Knights.

The Lords held a 10-7 lead in the fourth set and appeared on their way to forcing a fifth and deciding frame, before Fleming fought back to secure the road win. However, the team showed no loss of morale; battling back on multiple occasions, tying the game at 20, then again at 23, and yet again at 24. Despite the Knights ultimately prevailing 26-24, the Lords displayed a tremendous resilience on which they will build off going into their next match.

Next up for the Lords will be the George Brown Huskies, who they face at the CRWC on Thursday, Nov. 29.  First serve is scheduled for 8 p.m.
   • Fourth-year captain Tyler Krabi (Stouffville, Ont.) delivered a game-high 16 kills, along with two blocks for a game-high 18 points.
Aaron Banga (Oshawa, Ont.) and Lucas Pichl (Cobourg, Ont.) boosted the Lords' attack with eight and seven kills apiece.
• Spencer Bieri recorded 12 kills for top on the Knights.
  • The Lords' two key setup men were Kyler Woodburne (Bowmanville, Ont.) and Adam Thomas (Uxbridge, Ont.), dishing out 21 and 10 assists, respectively.
• Pichl was a stud on defence, putting up a game-high 23 digs for Durham.
