TORONTO, Ont. – A slow start for the Durham College women's basketball team was too much to bounce back from as they lost their first game of the second half 92-80.
 
Up against the George Brown Huskies in Toronto, who the Lords had beat 70-57 in November, Durham was unable to shut down the Huskies who received quality games from former Acadia Axewoman Aprille Deus and Angel Mbikay.
 
Mbikay dropped a team-high 23 points, while Tianna Sullivan also caused trouble for the Lords finishing with 20 points and 15 rebounds.
 
George Brown led Durham 20-7 after the opening quarter and led by 12 at halftime.
 
The Huskies pushed their lead to 20 points through three quarters, making the Lords fourth quarter comeback difficult as the closest they would get is within six points with two minutes to go.
 
In the loss, Lindsay Panchan (Ajax, Ont.) moved into third in Durham's all-time scoring with her 30-point performance. Now with 906 points, she passed Bonnie Slaughter, who finished her career with 887 points. Panchan also finished the night with 13 points for her fourth double-double of the season.
 
Dekota Kirby (Markham. Ont.) and Kayla Marshall (Ottawa, Ont.) scored 12 and 10 points respectively for Durham.
 
Tuesday night the Lords will be back in action as they host the Centennial Colts at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
