WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL PICK UP BIG WIN AGAINST CANADORE
Sophia Clement had another solid game with 30 assists and 11 digs to help the Grizzlies win their first game of the season.
The Georgian Grizzlies women's volleyball team hosted the visiting Canadore Panthers on Saturday afternoon at the Georgian Athletic Centre.
Georgian jumped out to a quick lead winning the first two sets 25-21 and 25-20. In the third set, the Panthers mounted a comeback to rally late and eventually take the set in extra points 28-26.
The Grizzlies came out with new life in the fourth set dominating the Panthers 25-3 to win the match 3-1.
Quinn McGregor (Lindsay) led the Grizzlies with 15 points from 12 kills, two aces and one block while also posting 12 digs. Kathryn Marks (Innisfil) also played a solid game with nine kills and a team high four blocks while rookie setter Sophia Clement (Toronto) had 30 assists and 11 digs.
It was the first win for Georgian on the year.
The Grizzlies will head out on the road next weekend to play the George Brown Huskies on Friday, Nov. 3.
After that the Grizzlies return home for a pair of games, first on Saturday, Nov. 11 against the Algonquin Thunder at 1 & 3 p.m. followed by a game against the La Cite Coyotes on Sunday, Nov. 12 at 12 & 2 p.m. All of those games take place at the Georgian Athletic Centre with tickets available at the door for $5. Students can pick up tickets for FREE in advance at the Athletic Centre.
