WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL WIN TIGHT BATTLE WITH STING
The Grizzlies were able to pull away in the first two tight sets before completing a 3-0 sweep over the Sting Friday night.
The Georgian Grizzlies women's volleyball team played their 2018-19 OCAA regular season home opener on Friday night at the Georgian Athletic Centre in Barrie.
A big crowd was on hand to take in the action and they certainly got full value from the home side.
The game kicked off the action with two nail-biting sets that the Grizzlies were able to squeak out both by scores of 26-24. In the third and ultimately the final set of the game the Grizzlies pulled away with a 25-16 set win to sweep the match 3-0.
Kelsey Watson (Barrie) led the way for Georgian with a 13 point game including a team-high 12 kills. Teammate Amber Maw (Huntsville) was solid with nine kills while Sophia Clement (Toronto) had 20 assists.
Georgian will be back in action this coming Tuesday, Oct. 23 when they travel to take on the Centennial Colts.
The Grizzlies will play their next home game on Friday, Oct. 26 when they host the Loyalist Lancers with the women's game at 6 p.m. and the men's game at 8 p.m.
Tickets for the game will be available at the doors for $5 each.
