Sting Start Fast, Falter Late

The Seneca Sting (5-10) won the opening set, but dropped three straight to fall to the Fleming Knights (7-8) in four sets 25-15, 23-25, 22-25, 20-25.

The Sting came out flying in the opening set. Thanks to strong serving by Ayo Ojeshina, the Sting took a 6-0 lead and extended their lead to 11-2 before rolling to an opening set win.

The Knights battled back, taking back-to-back closely contested sets for the 2-1 advantage.

In the fourth set, the Knights jumped out to an early lead. The Sting played off the emotion of the crowd, but were unable to pull closer than two points. Leading 18-15, the Knight strung together three straight points to take a stranglehold on the set and close out the match.

David Lazarev led the Sting with 21 kills to go along with 8 digs. Muneer Al Salem finished with 18 kills, 10 digs and 4 blocks. Winson Lee had 33 assists and 14 digs. Avinahs Juvarajan added 5 kills, a pair of aces and 12 digs.

The Knights were led by Erich Perau who had 18 kills and 13 digs. Jake Schuller chipped in 10 kills an d6 digs. Edward Running-Adams finished with a team-high 14 digs while Stephne Cadamuro had a match-high 41 assists.
