BELLEVILLE, Ont. – Cory Lapointe (Whitby, Ont.) led the Durham College women's soccer team with a pair of goals Friday night to lift the Lords to a 5-0 opening day victory over the Loyalist Lancers.
Despite the lopsided result,
Milinda Roblero's (Pickering, Ont.) eighth-minute tally was the lone goal in the opening 45 minutes.
The game opened up in the second half as the Lords seemed to have exhausted Lancers' keeper Courtney Bolch, who made 11 saves in the first half compared to only one by
Jenna King (Ajax, Ont.) for Durham College.
Jacklyn Brzezinski (Ajax, Ont.) scored her first OCAA goal in the 51
st minute.
Lapointe followed with the next two goals of the match in the 59
th and 76
th minutes to give her team a 4-0 lead.
Mya Beverley (Oshawa, Ont.) also scored her first career OCAA goal, closing out the Lords' scoring in the 90
th minute.
King finished with three saves in the clean sheet victory, while Bolch made 15 saves in the Lancers loss.
Durham has little time to rest as they prepare to face the Algonquin Thunder on Saturday afternoon for their home opener on Vaso's Field. Kick off is slated for 1 p.m.
