BELLEVILLE, Ont. – The Durham College women's soccer team is on a roll heading into the final week of the regular season after winning their third straight, including back-to-back this weekend.
Friday night at home after the Lords celebrated their graduating seniors in their final home game, they walked away with a 6-1 win before shutting out the Loyalist Lancers 4-0 less than 16 hours later in Belleville.
Bailey Colangelo (Whitby, Ont.) opened the scoring for the Lords in the 12
th minute off a corner kick. The score stayed at 1-0 at halftime, with the Lords putting 15 shots on net, compared to
Jayden Ball (Oshawa, Ont.) facing only three.
Early in the second half Cory LaPointe (Whitby, Ont.) doubled the Lords lead with her sixth of the season in the 55
th minute. Just three minutes later
Lauren Coyle (Quispamsis, N.B.) scored her third of the season to give Durham a 3-0 lead.
Milinda Roblero (Pickering, Ont.), who scored a pair of goals on Friday night, capped off the victory in Belleville with her eighth of the year in the 72
nd minute. She only trails
Natassha Hassenstein's (Oshawa, Ont.) nine goals for the team lead in scoring.
Mariah Beskers finished with 29 saves in the loss for the Lancers, while Ball earned the clean sheet – making five stops.
As of Saturday afternoon, Durham College has clinched third place in the OCAA east region, where they will finish the regular season regardless of the result in their final game of the year.
They will play the Fleming Knights on Wednesday night in Peterborough. Kick-off is 6 p.m.
