TORONTO, Ont. – The George Brown Huskies earned a split in the season series with the Durham College men's volleyball team on Wednesday night.
They did it in style, with a straight-set victory at home in Toronto. Their 3-0 win (13-25, 15-25, 21-25) comes after falling to the Lords in a 3-2 marathon in Oshawa on November 28, which saw Durham win the fifth set 15-11.
On Wednesday, in the third set, Durham held the lead for the majority. The Huskies stayed within striking distance and tied it 18-18 before pulling away with two and three point leads en route to their four-point 25-21 win.
Erik Janssen (Hampton, Ont.) and
Tyler Krabi (Stouffville, Ont.) had the team-high point totals for the Lords. Janssen finished with seven kills, while Krabi put up five kills and two blocks.
Spencer Edwards (Vineland, Ont.) added six kills.
Rory Langley (Uxbridge, Ont.) finished with 23 assists and the team's only aces in the match.
This was Durham's only game of the week as they prepare for four games over six days next week, which also includes the final three sets of their match against Algonquin that was postponed in the fall.
Tuesday, they host the Georgian Grizzlies before traveling to Scarborough to face the Centennial Colts on Wednesday.
On Saturday, Jan. 27 at 4 p.m. they will play the final sets of their match that was discontinued in Ottawa against the Thunder, which will be followed by the regularly scheduled match at 8 p.m. Sunday their week comes to a close against the La Cité Coyotes.
