RECAP: Knights earn third straight victory with win over Royals

Looking for their third straight victory, the Niagara Knights women's volleyball program (4-2, 5th OCAA West) welcomed the Redeemer Royals (0-6, 9th OCAA West) to the Welland Campus Gymnasium on Friday night.

In the first set, the Knights would jump out to an early lead and maintain that on route to a 25-13 win. The set win marked their seventh in a row, including the six in a row that they won against both of their opponent in a weekend sweep on November 10th and 11th.

Redeemer would show no signs of mercy, however, as they battled the Knights tough in the second set. The set would extend past 25 points with each team trading points back and forth. In the end, the Royals would capitalize on the Knights six attacking errors of the set and win it 28-26.

With the match tied one set a piece, the Knights would buckle down, winning each of the next two sets (25-17, 25-19), thanks in part to double-digit kills in each of the sets. The Knights would end this matchup victorious with a 3-1 win over the Royals.

"Our entire team contributed to this win," said Knights head coach Natasha Spaling. "Each athlete did her job today and it was nice to see it come together, especially in our blocking and defensive game."

Jordan Koslowski (Hamilton) had another fantastic performance, registering 15 kills and two service aces.

Natasha Desjardins (Welland) and Zeniah Pinnock (Toronto) both played outstanding matches as well, as the former had season-high 12 kills and the latter had 10. Pinnock also had a strong defensive game, finishing with two stuff blocks.

Montanna Taylor (St. Catharines) had 30 assists and displayed some attacking game as well, completing 5 kills and 3 service aces.

The Knights will head to Sheridan College next to take on the Bruins in a weekend matchup. The match will take place on Sunday, November 25th at 1pm.
