OSHAWA, Ont. – The 28-point fourth quarter by the Durham College men's basketball team was too little too late as the Lords fell 82-74 to the Centennial Colts on Friday night at home.
After going down 14-0 to start the game, the Lords started to chip away at the Colts lead in the first quarter, but Centennial continued to spread the advantage to lead 42-29 at halftime.
By the end of the third quarter the team trailed 65-42.
Christoff Pierre (Brampton, Ont.) had 10 points in the final quarter to lead the late push, which fell short.
Pierre finished the game with 19 to lead Durham College.
Taurell Coutou (Mississauga, Ont.),
Darian Rowe (Maple, Ont.) and
Dylan Pelissero (Ridgeway, Ont.) all added 10 points apiece for the Lords, while
Rashaun Bennett (Scarborough, Ont.) led Durham with nine rebounds.
Kendell Wilson led the Centennial Colts offence with 20 points, while Marko Curic picked up 11 points and seven boards.
The loss has now put Durham in a tough situation as they're sitting just outside of a playoff spot coming down the stretch. The men will have to earn a wins and get some help from the likes of Loyalist and Seneca to sneak in the final playoff spot.
Next Friday's game against the Georgian Grizzlies will also be important as the Grizzlies are currently tied with Durham, each team with eight points.
