Eight straight wins for No. 14 Lords

OSHAWA, Ont – The locomotive known as the No. 14 nationally ranked Durham Lords women's volleyball team showed no signs of slowing down on Thursday evening, disposing of the visiting George Brown Huskies in straight sets at the Campus Recreation & Wellness Centre.
 
Despite falling behind two sets against a team with a much better record in the Lords, George Brown showed tremendous fight, keeping the third set tight right to the end. At 19-18, with the Huskies breathing down their necks, Durham finally pulled away for good. Lifted by two crucial aces from Althea Boncheff (Alliston, Ont.), the Lords closed out the match 25-20 to keep their record unblemished. 
 
Durham are back on the court this Sunday, Dec. 2 when the Canadore Panthers pay a visit to the CRWC. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m.
    • Lords outside hitters Boncheff and Jessica Joensen (Pickering, Ont.) continued to dominate offensively, scoring 16 and 15 points apiece. For Boncheff, she registered 10 kills, five service aces and one block, while Joensen tallied 11 kills, three service aces and one block.
• In the middle for Durham, Alexa Armstrong (Whitby, Ont.) and Pasha Ormerod (Terrace, B.C.) were models of efficiency, each knocking down five kills on eight attempts.
• Beatriz Vilches delivered a team-high nine kills for George Brown.
  • Along with nine digs defensively, Lords rookie setter Georgi Williams (Whitby, Ont.) showed off her offensive wizardry by serving up a game-high 27 assists.
Devyn Fraser (Uxbridge, Ont.) was a defensive dynamo for the Lords tallying 13 digs.
• Jasmin Walia guided the Huskies offence with 21 assist, while Tiana Samuel registered a game-high 15 digs.
