WOMEN'S BASKETBALL EARN FIRST WIN OF SEASON OVER COLTS
Georgian had their best effort of the season to win their first game of the year 66-53 over the Centennial Colts
The Georgian Grizzlies women's basketball team played had a big game on Thursday night when they hosted the Centennial Colts at the Georgian Athletic Centre.
The Grizzlies put forth a gritty effort to claim their first victory of the season.
The game was tight throughout but Georgian were able to pull away late to claim a 66-53 victory.
Kelsey Dunkeld (Barrie) had a monster game scoring a career-high 23 points as part of a double-double with 11 rebounds.
She was one of three Grizzlies to post double-doubles as teammate Chelsey Lees (Elliot Lake) had 15 points and a team-high 14 rebounds while Eden Young (Tottenham) was also strong with 11 points and 12 rebounds.
The Grizzlies are now 1-4 on the season as they will be looking to carry their momentum forward.
Next up for the women's team will be a road game next Friday, Nov. 16 when they travel to take on the Seneca Sting.
The men's and women's teams will play their next home games on Friday, Nov. 30 when they host the St. Lawrence Vikings. The women's game begins at 6 p.m. with the men following around 8 p.m. Tickets for the double-header are available at the door for $5.
