Lords fall in back-to-back games against Thunder

OSHAWA, Ont. – After back-to-back losses to the Algonquin Thunder, the Durham Lords women's basketball team know the bar has been raised.

The Lords have enjoyed a strong start to the 2018-19 season, including a four-game win streak from Oct. 24 to Nov. 6. Friday night, however, the Lords were humbled 79-62 in their second loss in two weeks to the Thunder.

Durham appeared out of sync from the start with multiple turnovers culminating in a 16-2 hole from which they could never recover. An aggressive defensive effort from Algonquin led to them nearly doubling Durham in steals (20-11). There was a similar outcome in the free-throw category, with Durham leaving points on the table shooting 31 per cent to the Thunder's 63 per cent.

The Lords will have the next week off before returning to action Nov. 28 in Toronto against George Brown. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
