OSHAWA, Ont. – Tuesday night the Durham College men's soccer team needs a win or their season will come to a close.
A 2-1 victory by the Algonquin Thunder on Saturday in Oshawa at Vaso's Field puts the Lords one point back of the Centennial Colts for the final playoff spot in the OCAA east division, with the two teams set to meet on Tuesday night at Vaso's Field.
In their first meeting of the season on Sept. 19 Durham College fell 2-1 to Centennial in Scarborough.
On Saturday against the CCAA No. 4 ranked Algonquin Thunder it was the Lords that struck first with a goal by
Tristen Wilson (Ajax, Ont.) in the fifth minute of the match.
At halftime Durham led 1-0.
Alex Asmis tied the match in the 60
th minute of the match, where it appeared the game would end, but in the 89
th minute Isaac Johnson improved his team's record to 6-0-3 with his second goal of the season.
Jonathan Codrington (Courtice, Ont.) faced three shots in the loss, while Kyle Desouza turned aside seven six Lords shots in the win for Algonquin.
Kick-off for Tuesday's game against the Centennial Colts is 8 p.m. at Vaso's Field.
