Box Score OSHAWA, Ont. – The Durham College women's basketball team fell to the Loyalist Lancers 76-59 in their meeting in Belleville on Friday night. This marks their second loss of the season and their second in three games.
Missed free throws would come back to haunt the Lords as they left more than a few points off the board with 21 failed attempts. The Lords had a season-high 37 free throws in the game, earning only 16 points from the line. The Lancers also made their opponents pay with 22 points off turnovers.
Loyalist jumped ahead early in the game with a double digit 24-14 lead after one quarter. Jenni Thompson already had recorded 11 points for the Lancers in the first quarter, but the Durham defence would find a way to somewhat contain her and hold her to 16 points in the next three quarters combined.
The second and third quarters didn't go Durham's way as they were outscored 16-10 in each of the next two frames before the Lords offence exploded in the final ten minutes – putting 25 points on the board. However, that wouldn't be enough to complete the comeback.
Second-year Sport Management student
