OSHAWA, Ont. – Although it's still early in conference play, the Durham College women's volleyball team continued their winning ways on Sunday afternoon.
With a sweep of the visiting La Cité Coyotes the Lords improved to 3-0 on the season. Durham College last started with a similar record in 2016-17.
Through their opening three matches the Lords have had as many players lead them in points each night.
Allyson Terwillegar (Enniskillen, Ont.) led Durham over the Colts, while
Althea Boncheff (Alliston, Ont.) and
Sarah Rayment (Whitby, Ont.) were team leaders in wins over the Thunder and Coyotes.
Sunday also capped off the Lords' Think Pink weekend. While funds are still being tallied, it is expected that the total is well over $1,000. The volleyball program received great support from the Lords' soccer teams, Invado Volleyball and Durham Rebels Volleyball Club to assist in raising funds for a member of the Durham Lords community currently battling breast cancer.
"We're very thankful for all of these groups that came together to support something that is very important," said head coach
Tony Clarke. "We can't say enough about everyone that donated to help support this individual. I'm looking forward to tallying up the donations and seeing this make a difference in their life. This was a group effort and it's heartwarming to see everyone pull together."
Durham's next test comes at home on Thursday night against the Loyalist Lancers. First serve is slated for 6 p.m.
