SCARBOROUGH, Ont. – The Centennial Colts have knocked the Georgian Grizzlies to last place in the OCAA east division after a 79-72 victory over the Durham College women's basketball team on Friday night.
After starting the game neck-and-neck, the Colts pulled ahead of the Lords in the second quarter to lead 34-23.
Durham stormed back in the third with 28 points to take a 51-48 lead heading into the final ten minutes. Centennial would unfortunately get the victory on home court as they outscored the Lords 31-21 in the fourth to earn their 79-72 win.
Lindsay Panchan (Ajax, Ont.) led the Lords with a double-double by scoring 26 points and grabbing 15 boards.
Brittany Walters (Oshawa, Ont.) also had a double-double, picking up 14 points and 12 rebounds.
Sweet Cunanan's 26 points and eight rebounds led the Colts offence and defence, while Maryem Serradilla-Sonmez picked up 16 points and six rebounds.
The Lords will now prepare to take on the St. Lawrence Vikings (2-3) on Wednesday in Kingston. This is Durham's final game before the break, with their next home game scheduled for Jan. 19 against the George Brown Huskies.
