OSHAWA, Ont. – Two made free throws by
Brandon Halliburton (Brampton, Ont.) with three seconds to go in Tuesday night's game lifted the Durham College men's basketball team to a 63-62 victory over the Loyalist Lancers.
Halliburton's two made shots from the charity stripe may have made the difference, but Loyalist still had an opportunity to win the game with Raymond Yeung missing a three-point opportunity at the buzzer.
Prior to this – on an off balance shot, while looking for a foul – Halliburton threw up a three pointer, which went off the backboard and in to bring the Lords to within one, down 62-61 with 15 seconds to go.
The victory is huge for the Lords who now sit in a four-way tie for fifth in the OCAA east division with a 5-5 record heading into the holiday break.
Their next conference action is January 11 on the road against the Fleming Knights.
