PETERBOROUGH, Ont. – Baseball will not be the only Durham College team heading to Windsor this weekend as the men's soccer team will take on the St. Clair Saints on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. in an OCAA championship qualifying match.
Durham ended up in second place in the OCAA east region with a 6-3-1 record, but must travel for their playoff match because Fleming (3-5-1) earned a bye as championship hosts. St. Clair finished in third place in the west region with a 5-3-2 record.
The Lords will look to make their first OCAA championship appearance since 2014,
Dave Ashfield's first year as head coach. Prior to 2014, Durham missed out on the championship in six straight seasons.
Xavier Wright (Toronto, Ont.) scored the Lords' lone goal in the first half against the Knights, marking his second goal of the season. Wright has two goals in his last two games.
The Lords won six games for the second straight season. Last year, Durham's season ended in dramatic fashion as they fell in extra time of the crossover round to the Mohawk Mountaineers.
Durham ends conference play on a two-game win streak.
In their lone meeting this season in exhibition action, St. Clair and Durham played to a scoreless draw.
