BRAMPTON, Ont. - Down 20 to begin the fourth quarter, the Sheridan Bruins women's basketball team (2-3, 0-1 OCAA) climbed all the way back to make it a two-possession game with 26 seconds to play, but could not complete the comeback bid in a 75-71 loss to Fanshawe.

"We started off pretty slow and lacked the kind of defensive intensity we needed until the fourth quarter," assistant coach Sean Douglas said. "We allowed them to get easy penetration and on offence we didn't attack and settled for a lot of jumpers. When we did attack and get to the foul line, we didn't do a good enough job converting." 

Fanshawe led 23-15 after one and a 6-0 over the first 1:08 of the second quarter made it a 14-point game. Sheridan trimmed the margin to six, 32-26, but saw the visitors run the led back up to 13, 45-32, at the half. 

By the end of the third period, Fanshawe's advantage had swelled to 20, 67-47. 

The Double-Blue slowly began chipping away at the deficit - holding Fanshawe without a field goal, and limiting them to just four points over the final 7:17 - but ultimately the hole was too large to crawl out of.

Theresa Brown scored a team-high 15 points, while Brianna Stewart, Sydney Charvis, and Audrey Carin all were in double figures with 13 points apiece.

The team will host Mohawk on Nov. 2 (6pm).
