BELLEVILLE, Ont. – The Durham College women's volleyball team may have struggled in their season sweeping match against the Loyalist Lancers, but held on for a 3-0 victory on Friday night.
Durham didn't lose a set against the Lancers in two conference and two exhibition matches this year, but nearly lost their first set to their Belleville rivals multiple times as they had to come from behind in all three sets. Loyalist's best opportunity to throw a wrench in the Lords' plan came in a the second when Durham only won 27-25.
Now the Lords will prepare to face the second place Canadore Panthers on Sunday. The match gets underway at 1 p.m.

Jessica Joensen (Pickering, Ont.) finished with a match-high 12 kills, adding two blocks to lead the Lords with 14 points.

Althea Boncheff (Alliston, Ont.) continued her successful run as the only other Lord to finish in double digit points with 10 (eight kills, one ace, one block).
• Loyalist was led offensively with 11 kills and 15 points by Raven Maracle.
• Boncheff's defence was huge in the match, finishing with 14 digs, trailing only libero
Devyn Fraser's (Uxbridge, Ont.) 15 digs.
Georgi Williams (Whitby, Ont.) ran the offence with 33 assists.
• Lorraine Spellman had 24 assists for Loyalist, while Jillian Hoftyzer had a team-high 11 digs for the Lancers
