PETERBOROUGH, Ont. – The Durham College women's soccer team wrapped up conference action on Wednesday night with a 4-0 shutout on the road against the Fleming Knights.
Durham ends up in third place in the OCAA east region and will host a qualifying match on Saturday, Oct. 21 against the Sheridan Bruins. Sheridan ended up in third place in the OCAA central region with a 5-5-0 record. Game time for the playoff match will be 1 p.m. at the Oshawa Civic.
Durham's seven wins is the most since 2012 when the Lords went 7-1-0 in conference play.
"Tonight was a good game for us entering into the weekend with a crossover playoff game ahead," said Durham College head coach
Alex Bianchi. "We were consistent and focused in our play and we will need to continue on with that on the weekend. We have an opportunity to push the program forward on Saturday and we're going to give it our best effort."

Milinda Roblero (Pickering, Ont.) continued her hot streak as she recorded two goals in the 4-0 victory. The Lords freshman has scored eight goals in her last five games and has moved into the top six in OCAA scoring with 10 goals this season.
Cory Lapointe (Whitby, Ont.) and
Lauren Coyle (Quispamsis, N.B.) rounded out scoring for Durham with goals in the 53rd and 60th minute.
Durham's
Jayden Ball (Oshawa, Ont.) earned the clean sheet in goal.
The Lords looked confident in the victory as they played a controlled game and held the bulk of the play.
The last time Durham advanced to the OCAA championship was in 2009 when they won an OCAA silver medal. Including that season, they made the OCAA championship for eight straight seasons.
Durham and Sheridan met once this year in the preseason with the Lords earning a 3-0 victory.
